Meet the Changemakers: Callie Patel

HIMSS serves the global health information and technology communities with focused operations across North America, Europe, the United Kingdom, the Middle East and Asia Pacific. Our members include more than 80,000 individuals, 480 provider organizations, 470 non-profit partners and 650 health services organizations. The HIMSS staff is made up of changemakers who collaborate with members to reform the global health ecosystem through the power of information and technology.

How long have you been at HIMSS?

I have been at Healthbox since January 2018 and HIMSS since March 2018, when Healthbox joined the HIMSS family!

How do you support our mission statement?

Healthbox's mission is to empower the reinvention of healthcare, and HIMSS's mission is to reform health globally through information and technology. I support both of these missions by supporting innovation challenges, programs and commercialization efforts that aim to fix what's broken in healthcare and scale it broadly. What's more, we are proponents of all things digital health. We advise our healthcare clients on creating a sound and effective digital strategy, one that provides person-enabled health and predictive analytics, based on principles of interoperability, governance and an aligned workforce.

How do you know your work at HIMSS makes a difference?

I know my work makes a difference when I see the lightbulb moments from our clients or when an innovator we've been working with for months sees their innovation in practice. Serving as an innovation coach to so many innovators, challenging them and helping them grow their entrepreneurial competencies, is one of the best parts of my role. Seeing them turn into innovation evangelists at their healthcare organizations across the country confirms the difference we are making.
